Pulling together a 'best and worst of' is difficult even in the best circumstances. When you have a team worldwide with hugely diverse taste and over 90 nominated albums, it's even harder. But out of all of that, there was one clear winner: Goatwhore.

Most Disappointing Releases of 2009


1. Arkaea - Years in the Darkness.  

Why? The consensus is that the vocals just don't fit.


2. Sepultura - A-Lex 

Why? "Don't release two concept albums in a row unless the second one truly delivers on the promise of the first ... A-Lex has its moments but on the whole is just weird." - Goatlady


3. Naeara - Omnicide 

Why? "Just an intensely sharp decline from their previous masterpiece, Armamentarium" - Crushtor.


4. 3 Inches of Blood - Here awaits thy doom 

Why? "What happened to the Brutal screams alongside the True screams? Still a good record, but disappointing." - Joker Lokison 


5. Edguy - Tinnitus Sanctus 

Why? "These guys are shaping up to be the next Queen - it ain't a pretty picture." - Miguel
