'The Black Dahlia Murder - Everything you want from metal' - Aversions Crown vocalist Colin Jeffs shows us his record collection.

Oh yes, Colin likes a bit of Dahlia...

We’re coming to your house tonight. What new music are you most excited to introduce us to? What are you making everyone listen to at the moment?
The new Meshuggah for sure, so massive. new Signal the Firing Squad, and new tracks from Make Them Suffer. We are very excited for both those bands albums!

Five hours later we’ll still be there and, politely, you’ll be wanting to get rid of us – what goes on the stereo to clear the house?
Haha, shit, if I want to clear my house I just play something disgustingly heavy that I KNOW people cant handle – Beneath the Massacre.

What was the first record you can remember hearing at home? Did it have any effect on where you are today?

My mother used to listen to heaps of pretty wicked music, Dire Straits was something that I always dug back then and still do now.

And what was the first record you bought with your own money? And why?
First cd I ever bought was The OffspringSmash. Still love it to this day. Made me realize that I liked music that the majority of other people didn’t.

Any records in the collection you bought because you liked the cover, only to get them home and realize you’d made a terrible, terrible error?
No chance – I was always broke when I was a kid so I would listen to cds the entire way through instore to make sure that I liked every track!

If you didn’t answer this in question (3) what was the first record to make you think you might like to try your hand at rock n’roll yourself?
Well.. what I play isn’t exactly rock and roll – but it was probably something like Mudvayne or Slipknot.

And what record is so good it makes you feel like giving the whole game away every time you hear it?

The Black Dahlia Murder Unhallowed.

What record for you most fits the term ‘Metal as Fuck’
The Black Dahlia Murder – Unhallowed.  Nuff said.

What decade is most represented in your record collection?
Early 2000’s

What would you recommend to unbelievers as the best ‘entry level’ metal record in your collection?
Really, you cant go past 'dahlia, its got everything you want from metal. But if you’re a bit of a pussy or dig breakdowns probably something a little more post hardcore.

And what album from your collection should be in every other home in the land, apart from one of your own?
Lets go with BehemothThe Apostasy

What’s the vinyl/CD split of your collection
Unfortunately I don’t have any vinyl.

And finally, what record would you take with you to the next world, if such as thing exists?

The Black Dahlia Murder – Unhallowed.
