Michele Madden looks back with us at 2012: "I should have called my band Wank Fantasy."

She didn't, of course, but if you read on you'll find out all about Ms. Madden's new band, and a whole load of other stuff too...

Michele, hello and welcome to Metal as Fuck! Thanks for taking part. To the questions...What was the best new album you heard in 2012? "Why only one?? That is mean! Ok,fuck it....The new OFF! album. Best 15 minutes you can have with your pants still on."

Intriguing. Really intriguing. We'll have to have a listen. And what about old stuff – did any reissues grab your attention this year? "Rumours by Fleetwood Mac. Complete with the full disc of out-takes and demos. Hand me a pina colada and a pair of platform shoes and piss off....sigh....."

Ah, the heady days of mid-seventies excess. Sniff. What was your non-musical highlight of the last twelve months? "Seeing (Hard Ons frontman )Peter "Blackie" Black survive and thrive after being assaulted. A successful run of acoustic shows, Becoming the in-house Hunter.S.Thompson for Inked Magazine Australia,My band Saint Cecilia and all its members whom I adore, Lifer by Meldrum is coming out and I'm working on a new TV show. Not too shabby at all!"

You said it! We'll check back next year to see how it all went! Next question, and more of a general one. Do you think the music scene – and our sort of music in particular – is in good shape at the minute? "I think that is is. Imagine Lemmy on a treadmill smoking a cigarette. Makes me smile! I will see you all Off!Black Sabbath, Soundwave, Eyehategod, Iggy and the Stooges. Turbonegro.....not to mention all the great shows I went to this year..."

Talking of this year's shows, did anything disappoint you musically in 2012? "Just my own glaring short comings and the fact that Sir Henry Rollins won't put a new band together and come and rock my scanty smalls off yet again....Give Mother Superior a call Hank! You know that you wanna..."

Erm, yes. Moving swiftly on, which practitioners of your own musical role impressed you most this year? "Marcus de Pasquale from Looking Glass doing Gypsy Jazz. It has to be seen to be believed! (We've seen it! and we believe!) Moa Holstrom, Frida Stahl, Gene Hoglan and Laura Christine all forging forward with astounding work. Blackie always bringing it with his solo work."

And so back to those live shows you mentioned enjoying in 2012. Let's make it official - the best live act you’ve seen this year was? "Goatwhore. And me and Steve Lucas from X doing Wild Horses. I saw it on you tube. It made me cry for two reasons.1st-cause it was great and 2nd - cause no one had told me how fucking fat I had got. Hence me losing what feels like an Olson twin. yey!"

Rock n'roll. Good for us in so many ways. What does the next twelve months hold in prospect for you? "Complaining joyfully about how much I have on my plate!"

As Diamond Dave once said - people ain't happy unless they are unhappy! And now for a prediction - which band, if any, do you think is primed to break out into the wider consciousness in 2013? "Mine! Saint Cecilia! You heard it here first. I should have called it "Wank Fantasy" due to the line up being the cream of what Australia has to offer..."

There's still time to change the name, surely? Have a think about it. Anyways, We’re fast approaching the festive season - best night for a party – Christmas Eve or New Year’s Eve? "Both nights usually find me up the bell tower contemplating Darwinism and which rifle to use so maybe I am not the best person to ask.."

Haha! The best answer to this question (if only because it tallies squarely with your correspondent's opinions in this matter) we've had so far!  Finally, anything else you like the readers of Metal as Fuck to know? "Walk softly and carry a big stick..."
