Headhunter D.C. - God's Spreading Cancer (Ibex Moon)

It's really hard to properly enjoy this sort of death metal. It's not nearly melodic or riff-centric enough to be memorable or have any sort of staying power. But, at the same time, it's nowhere near brutal or crazy enough to really get your blood flowing or give the impression that the band completely goes off live.

It's the sort of stuff which tends to get peddled as "classic old-school death metal", forgetting the very things that made the best bands of that first wave out of Tampa, Florida so great: boundar

Divine Eve - Vengeful and Obstinate (Ibex Moon)

Since I like to think I have some sort of integrity as a critic, I force myself to listen to any album, no matter how shit, at least three times, before writing an opinion about it. So every now and then, it's nice to get given an EP that goes for less than 20 minutes. This is not painful to listen to, mind you: just incredibly plain.

Oh god. Oh god look at that cover art guys. Seriously, look at the fucking thing. There's a lot to be said about cover art sometimes, but in this case all you can really say is “oh god that is the dumbest shit ever. This music is going to be the biggest clichéd mess of satanic death metal since Deicide's shit period between Once Upon The Cross and finally leaving RoadRunner”.

And that's even before you find out that the band are not only Actual Practicing Satanists, but LaVeyan Satanists at that, and the vocalist – who goes by the name of Vincent

Avulsed ink US deal with Ibex Moon for forthcoming album

Avulsed has without any doubt been the most veteran and consistent band in the Spanish extreme metal scene since its inception in August 1991. A band loyal to its death metal style, Avulsed has been very active in terms of releases and live performances around the world.

Witchmaster to release first album in five years, on 10 November

Hell, thy name is Witchmaster! The reigning kings of Satanic Metal Slaughter have returned with Trücizna, the band's first full-length since 2004's self-titled blackened thrashterpeice.
