Andrew Haug; the former host and 10 year veteran of The Racket (presented by Radio station Triple J, Australia) has recently unveiled plans to launch Australia's first ever dedicated 24/7 rock & heavy metal online radio station via AndrewHaug.com
With several months of planning and design to unleash this innovation on the world, the end result will be the ultimate listening experience to connect and unite rock & metal fans worldwide. The show will feature all the freshest local; national and international rock and heavy metal (as well as playing all the classics) streaming none stop, all day and all night, come rain, shine, hell or high water. The show will also feature the added advantage of dedicated specials, programmes and listener favourites.
Metal As Fuck was eager to get the dirt on this remarkable venture so we chatted to the man behind the mic; Andrew Haug recently. What inspired you to undertake this project? “Insanity! Ha, jokes aside I have felt for quite some time the need to create something like this for this country. Now with incredible technology at our disposable the timing couldn't be better”.
How difficult was it all to set up? “Difficult is a kind word, there is still a long way to go, it's very involved both technically & financially so each step is a learning curve, and we will continue to learn, but it’s all part of the challenge says life”.
How important is this to heavy metal? “It’s very important because the heavy music scene in general on a media level has sadly been ignored for far too long in this country for both local and international artists. Now with this coming up AndrewHaug.com is simply one click away from riff heaven…. or hell depends where you sit on the fence”. I couldn’t agree more *grabs pom poms & hijacks band wagon*
