The Italian masters of dark musical extremity, Fleshgod Apocalypse will make their long awaited return to Australia for a headline tour this June!

Since forming a decade ago in 2007, Fleshgod have grabbed the metal world by the throat and have not let go. Releasing four albums; relentlessly touring the globe, and amassing a legion of loyal followers.

Their most recent album King (2016) is being hailed as one of the essential metal albums of the last decade. Combining the extremity of Death and Black Metal with bombastic, powerful and challenging orchestral arrangements Fleshgod Apocalypse take the listener on a dark journey of epic proportions. Drawing on diverse musical inspirations from film score composers such as John Williams, Hans Zimmer, and Howard Shore through to the melodic death metal of Carcass and At The Gates and the savagery of Morbid Angel, the band have crafted a sound that is powerful, impressive, and unique. There are no limitations on Fleshgod Apocalypse’s creative ambitions as they continue to blur the lines between classical refinement and metallic intensity.

Gothic Doom Metal band Paradise Lost are set to play their first headline Australian shows in six years.

Rare is it for a band to have had such a long lasting effect on the musical landscape they exist within. Since their formation in Halifax, West Yorkshire, Paradise Lost have thrived in perpetual darkness: a place where rays of light seldom threaten to break the black clouds, where nightmares last an eternity.

While the course of their sonic evolution has spawned countless others sworn to the dark, all pale in comparison to the original Gothic metal pioneers. Whilst their fifth album ‘Draconian Times’ provided the band’s international breakthrough, it would be fair to say without Paradise Lost, many of today’s doom-gloom bands would never have existed – 2nd album ‘Gothic’ still being considered ground zero for gothic metal.

Now celebrating their 25th year since the release of their debut album, Paradise Lost finally return to Australia for 5 shows only including their first shows in Adelaide and Perth ever!

The band will be performing songs from their groundbreaking catalogue and highlighting material from their astounding new album ‘The Plague Within’ on which Paradise Lost are once again refining the chemical equation to their sonic alchemy with the kind of creative invincibility few can afford. Described as a monochrome miasma of morbidly uplifting anthems and heart-aching melancholia, Paradise Lost deliver a pain born of the human condition itself as our fragile minds struggle to cope in a world overrun by demons.

It’s the love for what they do that has elevated Paradise Lost to the higher echelons of metal majesty. With a longstanding stable line-up that increasingly seems a rarity in today’s music scene, theirs is a creativity born of collective dominance: a mutual and shared dedication to creating something that will stand the test of time. And, of course, we’ve grown to expect nothing less from the Great British trailblazers.

If you’re searching for cheap thrills, look elsewhere. Paradise Lost is a band that sacrifice themselves through music, bleeding and suffering for their art in a way that puts many of today’s so-called artists to shame.

This week - reinvigorated black metal infamists Nargaroth have released their highly anticipated seventh album, Era of Threnody via Inter Arma Productions.

Nargaroth needs no introduction. German black metal's longest-running and most prolific band, Nargaroth has built a canon of work that's as infamous as it is legendary in the underground. Led as always by the peerless vision of vocalist/multi-instrumentalist Ash, the Nargaroth aesthetic has spanned the many extremes of black metal as an artform, but always done with bravado and self-belief, purity of intent and purity of purpose. Now, with the band's first full-length in a long eight years, Era of Threnody has arrived to mark a glorious new epoch for Nargaroth.

Ever aptly titled, Era of Threnody burns with rage and repose - a war cry from a battlefield long forgotten, a remembrance of sorrows past, present, and future. Across its 65-minute landscape, the 10 songs which comprise Era of Threnody paint a portrait of Nargaroth at its most dynamic: nearly every unique era of the band is represented, but executed with a startling sense of professionalism. But let it be known that "professionalism" in no way should be conflated with mainstream ambitions, for this is still pure 'n' pristine BLACK METAL in all its monochromatic grandeur. More accurately, perhaps, Era of Threnody is the sound of Nargaroth at the height of its powers, well rested from the studio hiatus and eager 'n' emboldened by an upcoming European tour with Absu and Hate. The time of reckoning is at hand, and it is indeed the Era of Threnody!

Only mere days away international metal superstars DragonForce will release their new studio album, Reaching Into Infinity, via earMusic/Sony Music Australia! To get you all in the mood, the band has launched a video for the new single, Ashes Of The Dawn, directed by Ivan Colic, plus produced by Stanimir Lukic - Staca and iCODE Team in Serbia in May 2017.

For their seventh studio album, DragonForce has opened up their sound like never before, capturing the fierce, forlorn and fun with both menace and melody. "I think we have proven that playing fast was something we were good at, so this time I wanted to bring even more diversity into our music," Frederic Leclercq (bass) comments. "It's great to challenge ourselves instead of staying in a comfort zone, and I really wanted to experiment with Marc's vocals. I think people are going to be surprised at his brutality!" The first album to feature Gee Anzalone (drums), the Italian drummer has laid down an impressive performance to provide the perfect backbone to the DragonForce sound, which of course still boasts the band's trademark insanely-fast solos, courtesy of guitarists Herman Li and Sam Totman. Recording the bulk of the album at Fascination Street Studios, Sweden, with producer Jens Bogren, the band also laid down tracks while touring their Killer Elite "best of"-album, utilizing Lamerluser Studios, (London, UK), Dark Lane Studios (Witney, UK), as well as the band's own Evil1 Studios in Charleville-Mezieres, France and Shredforce One Studios (CA, USA).

Gorguts will be performing in support of their previous albums as well as their critically highly acclaimed latest EP 'Pleiades' Dust', which is still available in various formats via the Season of Mist shop. The album is streaming in its entirety HERE!

Canada's long-running and much loved craftsmen of technical death metal are returning with a 33-minute song. Entitled 'Pleiades' Dust' this complex, image evoking, and masterly arranged eponymous track fills an entire EP. Expect the unexpected, when it comes to Gorguts.

In an age of a postulated clash of cultures, mastermind Luc Lemay delivers a piece of music that is conceptually and lyrically based on the "House of Wisdom", a medieval library based in Baghdad and at the heart of the Golden Age of Islam with its many scientific breakthroughs in various fields of learning. As Luc comments: "It is a story about curiosity, beautiful minds and sadly, about how man destroys great discoveries and achievements." Musically there is more narrative feeling as each section is introduced in such a way that every riff has the space to evolve like a character in a story.

Few extreme bands can boast the pedigree of Gorguts. During their early days as part of death metal's first wave, they created a legacy of legendary releases including their debut album 'Considered Dead' (1991) and its more experimental and technical follow-up 'Erosion of Sanity' (1993). After a hiatus of five years, Luc Lemay returned with a new line-up, which released the highly acclaimed and seminal third full-length 'Obscura' (1998). By then Gorguts had been busy at expanding and redefining the language of death metal. With a new line-up that left Lemay as the sole original member, the next milestone album was released under the title 'From Wisdom to Hate' (2001).

Yet again the band went into hibernation, while their musical legacy continued to inspire and thrive as their native Quebec became a focus for technical death metal with acts such as Cryptopsy, Neuraxis, and Beyond Creation to name but a few following in their footsteps. After more than a decade of silence, mastermind Luc Lemay unleashed 'Colored Sands' (2013) with an all-star line-up including Colin Marston, Kevin Hufnagel, and John Longstreath (Origin, Skinless), who has in the meantime been replaced by Patrice Hamelin (Beneath The Massacre). Now Gorguts return with their most experimental song so far that combines all their virtues into one massive masterpiece. Lean back and listen carefully!

Norwegian black metal legends Satyricon have signed a worldwide deal with Napalm Records and entered the studio to begin recording a brand new album! Formed in 1991 in Oslo, Satyricon reinvented the world of extreme music. With their third album 'Nemesis Divina' released back in 1996, their status as one of the most significant and creatively vital bands in Norwegian black metal was already beyond dispute. When this most illustrious and influential piece of dark art was successfully re-released with Napalm Records in the Spring of 2016 and in celebration of the band's 20th anniversary, it marked a cornerstone to extend the relationship to a worldwide record deal between the Austrian label and pioneers of black metal in Satyricon.

Thomas Caser, CEO of Napalm Records: "We are proud to announce the signing of one of this most influential Extreme Metal act and pioneer of a whole genre. This upcoming album will surely set another mile stone in heavy music and we are honoured to release it this fall!”

Satyricon are already hard at work in the studio and are currently recording their highly anticipated new studio album that is set for a September 22 release. Satyricon have not just inspired entire genres and beyond, the band has also always excelled live. Their powerful and evocative performances, spearheaded by charismatic frontman and visionary, Satyr as well as drummer extraordinaire Frost, will always be a memorable special event you will never forget.
