Eyehategod Australian tour January 2015 - CANCELLED

Sludge masters Eyehategod announce January 2015 Australian tour
Tour Dates:
29/01/2015 - 01/02/2015

For over a quarter of a century, Eyehategod have carried the torch for the metal culture of New Orleans, sharing stages with the likes of Pantera, Goatwhore and Crowbar. And in two and a half decades, they’ve helped define the NOLA (New Orleans, Louisiana) sound: downtuned, blues-inflected guitars awash in furious distortion, underpinning the demonic screams of Mike Williams over a thundering rhythm section.

But that 26 year hasn’t been without its troubles. The band went on hiatus in the late 90s as its members focussed on other projects – Corrosion of Conformity, Crowbar and Soilent Green – before reconvening for Confederacy of Ruined Lives in 2000. But everything got harder after that: Hurricane Katrina wrecked much of their hometown in 2005, and in the aftermath its membership fought through addiction, incarceration, probation and the death of founding drummer Joey LaCaze.

It’s been a long time between riffs, but Eyehategod emerged on the other side stronger and more determined than ever before. Their self-titled fifth album – the first in 14 years – is an exclamation mark on an already storied career, a statement of rebirth, catharsis, self-preservation and a sign of things to come. This January, Southern Discomfort makes its way to Australia.

Early bird special offer: The first 150 ticket-buyers to Eyehategod’s Melbourne show will receive a complimentary ticket to the exclusive after party at The Public Bar where Eyehategod will be playing a second set. Many thanks to The Public Bar for their support here.

The first 50 ticket-buyers to Eyehategod’s Perth, Sydney and Brisbane shows will receive a free A3 tour poster.

The following statement has been issued by promoters Life is Noise:

Life is Noise is disappointed to announce the cancellation of Eyehategod's Australian tour due to health issues.

Mike Williams from the band has been unwell for some time, recently having to cancel his tour with his other band Corrections House. We have been told that Mike will not be able to make it to Australia due to poor health. Life is Noise has not been made aware of the specific nature of these issues but have been informed that they will preclude the band from travelling here.

We would like to apologise to all fans and all others inconvenienced by this cancellation. We have done everything possible to make this tour happen in what have been difficult circumstances.

Refunds will be available at place of purchase.
