The crowd teamed with long-haired, patch-jacket-wearing metalheads in the mood for Metal. Formed thirty years ago, Candlemass filled out their set with crowd favourites, new tunes and some good quality Black Sabbath covers. Relatively new singer, Mats Levén stretched his vocal chords to well known tunes, almost as absorbed in the music as the crowd. Bassist and songwriter Leif Edling took the microphone for a song, as did local guest vocalist Mikko Kotamäki (Swallow the Sun, Kuolemanlaakso)
Amanda Brenchley Photography covered all thirteen Australian bands at Bloodline Festival. Held at the HiFi Bar in Brisbane, this all Australian metal charity festival raised money for Autism QLD. Bands donated their time, energy and music to this worthy cause organised by Maria Bloodline at Bloodline Productions.
Held yearly over three days of midnight sun during the Finnish midsummer, the Nummirock Metal festival summons pilgrims from all over the world to three days of music, camping and partying in the wilderness. With a Finnish-band heavy line-up, this festival delivers lasting memories and is well worth the trip if you find yourself in the Nordic region one summer.
Devilstone Open Air is three days of metal, mud and beer in the picturesque countryside just outside Anykščiai in north-eastern Lithuania. Here are some of the shots from the first afternoon and evening of the festival. A relaxed start to a weekend filled to the brim with extreme music and the rock'n'roll lifestyle on the riverbanks.

Moonsorrow have come from a garage in Pukinmäki, to a worldwide fan base and even an Australian tour. They were one of the Finnish Folk bands that built up their country's reputation. They're even in a museum in Hungary. But they hadn't played a home crowd in two years when they headed back to the Virgin Oil Co in Helsinki.
