There are many oceans and many ships, but 70000Tons Of Metal always was and is the leading light of a new trend: They are truly the world's biggest heavy metal cruise.

Nummirock is held over the crucial Finnish Juhannas holiday. Metalheads from all over head to the serene lakeside venue to set up camp and cry havoc for the long weekend. The last day of the festival swept in cold and damp, but that didn't deter the thousands from drinking and live music! It had our photographer hiding in the warmer drinking areas, but we've got live shots from Stone, Turisas, Turmion Kätilöt, W.A.S.P., Whispered, Suicide Silence and Tuoni!

Helsinki raised its drinking horns and pumped its fists to a rousing night of folk, battle and symphonic power metal on Easter Sunday. Long time friends Ensiferum and Turisas joined forces with locals Thaurorod to deliver a night of tribute to swords, beer, historical battles, fantastical journeys and leather skirts... erm.. kilts.

Chainmail, warpaint and drinking horns were once again the business of the evening in Helsinki as Ensiferum, Turisas and Thaurorod shared the stage on Easter Sunday. A passionate crowd of local fans and visitors from all over Europe drank, moshed and raised their fists to an evening of anthemic metal.

Last Monday the Bataclan in Paris was rocked by the travelling Folk Metal Festival Heidenfest 2013. On the line-up were Ensiferum, Turisas, Equilibrium, SuidAkrA and Frosttide.

Fans of the Finnish battle metallers, Turisas, dominated the crowds on Wednesday night of the 70000tons of Metal cruise. Metal as Fuck sat down with their charismatic violinist, Olli Vanska, to find out what listeners can expect from the fourth studio album due in May 2013.
